Wanda Mbalula, who was born in South Africa and played for several clubs before becoming a professional player, has signed a new contract with French side AS Monaco. The move comes after Mbalula made a huge breakthrough at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and helped them win the Champions League last season.
Mbalula, who previously played for clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus, had been on trial with the French club during the summer break. He impressed his new manager and eventually signed a two-year deal with AS Monaco.
The move marks a return to Monaco, which Mbalula said was one of the reasons why he chose the club over other options. "I always wanted to play in France and I'm happy that I can do it," Mbalula told the media.
Mbalula has already made an impact in the French league this season, scoring four goals in eight appearances for the club. He also added another goal to his tally in the Europa League against Manchester United last week.
As Monaco prepares for their UEFA Champions League campaign next season, they will be hoping that Mbalula can continue to impress and help them achieve success in Europe. With his recent successes, he may well have the chance to make a big name for himself in the world of football.
